Google Public DNSGoogle has launched Google Public DNS service for users who want a faster DNS (Domain Name System) solution.
If you experiencing delays in website loading time which may be DNS related (sites taking long time to “resolve”), then your default DNS provided by your may be at fault. You may want to switch to a faster DNS service in that case. Google Public DNS is one of them.
How DNS affects internet browsing speed
DNS is used by a computer to lookup a website address on the internet. Everytime you enter a website address in the address bar of your browser, your computer requests a DNS lookup of that website from a DNS. When a website is resolved, it is then loaded from the server onto your computer’s browser. But if the DNS is slow (overloaded), then it may take longer time to resolve the website address you requested and hence can slow the website loading.
Why you should try Google Public DNS
Apart from improved speed, Google Public DNS also offers you better security. Google’s DNS service also promises desired results with no redirection.
If you are not impressed with Google Public DNS and still want a free and faster DNS alternative, you may also want to use Open DNS service.
